CYPHER AMBASSADOR - KYLIE FLY
I was lucky enough to grow up in a little farm town called Caldwell, Idaho. Idaho is home. I'm an identical triplet, I travel for a living shooting outdoor adventures and live passionately pursuing the things that most excite me. After years of moving around the world, I now live in Salt Lake City, Utah.
What was your first experience climbing?
My first climbing experience on real rock was Disappointment Peak, in the Tetons. It was far from disappointing. I was hooked immediately. Multi-pitch climbing was insanely fun to me, and I remember feeling absolutely terrified in the best way possible.
What is your favorite type of climbing?
Multi-pitch trad. I'll climb anything and have a good time, but I love to get high!
Any style of climbing that you particularly dislike?
I don't boulder. I have mad respect for strong boulderers!
Where are your favorite areas to climb?
There's still so many places I have yet to climb! The Tetons were amazing, and I've loved climbing right here at home in the Wasatch. Little Cottonwood is right around the corner and always a ton of fun, and I always have an amazing time at Red Rocks.
Tell us about your all-time favorite climb -
Probably my first multi-pitch, Disappointment Peak. Just because it was the first time I had a real taste for climbing with some exposure and a long approach. It was incredible, and I'd never felt so accomplished in the mountains. I had that summity-high feeling for hours.
Why do you climb / spend time outdoors?
It's one of the only times my mind goes quiet. I can breathe easily, I focus, and my mind has no room to wander. It's a huge relief for me.
What other hobbies/interests or passions do you have?
Skiing is life. I grew up skiing and love it with all my heart. I love camping, backpacking, fishing, mountain biking, and all around being outside.
Which 3 emojis describe you best?
What or who inspires you?
I'm inspired by people who pursue what they love. Whether they're an incredible artist, musician or environmentalist I love to see people hustling after their dream and making things happen in the world.
Tell us about your dream vacation –
I'm obsessed with the French and Swiss Alps. I'd love to get a full year in with all four seasons to experience everything they have to offer, seasonally, from climbing to skiing and anything in between.
Favorite post-send meal –
Tacos at Lone Star, when I'm at home - because it's a Wasatch classic! Otherwise, I will never turn down a hot slice of pizza.
What are your long-term climbing goals, bucket list items, etc.?
I want to climb Yosemite and do some rad alpine climbs in the Sierras. I have a pretty lengthy list that also demands a lot of growth and strength training on my end, so I am working on it :)
Anything else people should know...
